El Maravilloso Mago de Oz
Capítulo 3, Página 5
“I
do
not
know,”
answered
Boq
seriously,
“for
I
have
never
been
there.
People
should
stay
away
from
Oz
unless
they
have
business
with
him.
It
is
a
long
way
to
the
Emerald
City
and
will
take
you
many
days.
The
country
here
is
rich
and
pleasant,
but
you
must
pass
through
rough
and
dangerous
places
before
you
finish
your
journey.”
This
worried
Dorothy
a
little,
but
she
knew
only
the
Great
Oz
could
help
her
get
back
to
Kansas,
so
she
bravely
decided
not
to
turn
back.
She
said
goodbye
to
her
friends
and
started
again
along
the
yellow
brick
road.
After
walking
several
miles,
she
decided
to
rest
and
climbed
to
the
top
of
the
fence
beside
the
road.
There
was
a
large
cornfield
beyond
the
fence,
and
not
far
away,
she
saw
a
Scarecrow
on
a
pole
to
keep
the
birds
away
from
the
ripe
corn.
Dorothy
leaned
her
chin
on
her
hand
and
looked
thoughtfully
at
the
Scarecrow.
Its
head
was
a
small
sack
stuffed
with
straw,
with
eyes,
nose,
and
mouth
painted
on
it
to
make
a
face.
An
old,
pointed
blue
hat,
from
some
Munchkin,
was
on
its
head.
The
rest
of
the
figure
was
a
blue
suit
of
clothes,
worn
and
faded,
also
stuffed
with
straw.
On
its
feet
were
old
boots
with
blue
tops,
like
every
man
wore
in
this
country.
The
figure
was
raised
above
the
corn
stalks
by
a
pole
stuck
up
its
back.
While
Dorothy
looked
at
the
strange,
painted
face
of
the
Scarecrow,
she
was
surprised
to
see
one
eye
slowly
wink
at
her.
She
thought
she
must
be
mistaken
because
scarecrows
in
Kansas
never
wink.
But
soon,
the
figure
nodded
its
head
at
her
in
a
friendly
way.
She
climbed
down
from
the
fence
and
walked
up
to
it,
while
Toto
ran
around
the
pole
and
barked.
“Good
day,”
said
the
Scarecrow
in
a
rather
husky
voice.
