El Maravilloso Mago de Oz
Capítulo 4, Página 1
After
a
few
hours,
the
road
became
rough,
and
walking
got
difficult.
The
Scarecrow
often
tripped
over
the
yellow
bricks,
which
were
uneven
here.
Sometimes,
the
bricks
were
broken
or
missing,
leaving
holes
that
Toto
jumped
over
and
Dorothy
walked
around.
The
Scarecrow,
having
no
brains,
walked
straight
ahead
and
fell
into
the
holes.
He
wasn't
hurt,
and
Dorothy
would
help
him
up,
and
they
both
laughed
at
his
clumsiness.
The
farms
here
weren't
as
well-kept
as
those
they
had
passed
earlier.
There
were
fewer
houses
and
fruit
trees,
and
the
farther
they
went,
the
more
lonely
and
sad
the
country
seemed.
At
noon,
they
sat
by
the
roadside
near
a
little
brook.
Dorothy
opened
her
basket
and
took
out
some
bread.
She
offered
a
piece
to
the
Scarecrow,
but
he
refused.
“I
never
get
hungry,”
he
said.
“It's
lucky
for
me
because
my
mouth
is
only
painted.
If
I
made
a
hole
to
eat,
the
straw
inside
me
would
fall
out,
and
my
head
would
lose
its
shape.”
Dorothy
understood
this
was
true,
so
she
nodded
and
continued
eating
her
bread.
“Tell
me
about
yourself
and
where
you
come
from,”
said
the
Scarecrow
after
she
finished
her
meal.
Dorothy
told
him
all
about
Kansas,
how
everything
was
gray
there,
and
how
the
cyclone
brought
her
to
this
strange
Land
of
Oz.
