El Maravilloso Mago de Oz
Capítulo 9, Página 6
They
came
from
all
directions,
and
there
were
thousands
of
them:
big
mice,
little
mice,
and
middle-sized
mice.
Each
one
brought
a
piece
of
string
in
its
mouth.
Around
this
time,
Dorothy
woke
from
her
long
sleep
and
opened
her
eyes.
She
was
surprised
to
find
herself
on
the
grass,
with
thousands
of
mice
looking
at
her
timidly.
But
the
Scarecrow
explained
everything,
and
turning
to
the
dignified
little
Mouse,
he
said:
"Let
me
introduce
you
to
her
Majesty,
the
Queen."
Dorothy
nodded
seriously,
and
the
Queen
made
a
curtsy.
After
that,
she
became
quite
friendly
with
Dorothy.
The
Scarecrow
and
the
Woodman
began
to
tie
the
mice
to
the
cart
using
the
strings.
One
end
of
each
string
was
tied
around
a
mouse's
neck
and
the
other
to
the
cart.
The
cart
was
much
bigger
than
any
of
the
mice,
but
when
all
the
mice
were
harnessed,
they
could
pull
it
easily.
Even
the
Scarecrow
and
the
Tin
Woodman
could
sit
on
it,
and
the
mice
pulled
them
quickly
to
where
the
Lion
lay
asleep.
After
much
hard
work,
because
the
Lion
was
heavy,
they
managed
to
lift
him
onto
the
cart.
Then
the
Queen
quickly
ordered
her
people
to
start
moving,
fearing
that
if
the
mice
stayed
among
the
poppies
too
long,
they
would
fall
asleep
too.
At
first,
the
little
creatures,
though
many,
could
hardly
move
the
heavy
cart.
But
the
Woodman
and
the
Scarecrow
pushed
from
behind,
and
they
moved
better.
Soon
they
rolled
the
Lion
out
of
the
poppy
field
to
the
green
fields,
where
he
could
breathe
the
fresh
air
again,
instead
of
the
poisonous
scent
of
the
flowers.
