XIII.
RENUNCIATION.
There
came
a
day
in
full
summer
Just
for
me;
I
thought
such
days
were
for
saints,
Where
secrets
are.
The
sun,
as
always,
shone
bright,
The
flowers,
as
usual,
bloomed,
As
if
no
soul
passed
the
time
That
makes
all
things
new.
The
time
was
hardly
touched
by
talk;
Words
were
not
needed,
As
at
a
holy
meal
The
Lord's
clothes
are
not.
Each
was
to
each
a
closed
church,
Allowed
to
speak
this
time,
Lest
we
too
awkward
show
At
the
supper
of
the
Lamb.
The
hours
went
fast,
as
hours
do,
Held
tight
by
eager
hands;
So
faces
on
two
ships
look
back,
Going
to
different
lands.
And
so,
when
all
the
time
was
gone,
Without
any
sound,
Each
held
the
other's
cross,
We
gave
no
other
bond.
Enough
promise
that
we
shall
rise
—
Free,
at
last,
from
the
grave
—
To
that
new
marriage,
right
Through
Calvaries
of
Love!
