VIII.
SUMMER'S
ARMIES.
A
rainbow
from
the
fair!
A
world
of
dreams
I
see!
Or
a
peacock's
purple
tail,
Feather
by
feather,
on
the
ground
Goes
away!
The
sleepy
butterflies
wake,
Quiet
pools
start
to
hum
With
last
year's
song.
From
the
sun's
old
home,
Bees
march,
one
by
one,
In
buzzing
groups!
The
robins
gather
today
Like
snowflakes
yesterday,
On
fence
and
roof
and
twig.
The
orchid
puts
on
her
feather
For
her
old
love,
the
Sun,
Visiting
the
bog!
Without
a
leader,
countless,
still,
The
woods
and
hills
stand
bright.
Look!
Whose
crowds
are
these?
The
children
of
whose
seas,
Or
what
far
land?
