XXXV.
THE
GOAL.
Each
life
moves
to
a
center
Expressed
or
quiet;
Exists
in
every
human
nature
A
goal,
Barely
admitted
to
itself,
it
may
be,
Too
fine
For
belief's
courage
To
dare.
Adored
with
care,
like
a
fragile
heaven,
To
reach
Was
hopeless
like
the
rainbow's
robe
To
touch,
Yet
kept
trying
for,
more
sure
for
the
distance;
How
high
Unto
the
saints'
slow
work
The
sky!
Not
gained,
it
may
be,
by
a
life's
small
efforts,
But
then,
Eternity
allows
the
trying
Again.
