XXXVI.
SIGHT.
Before
I
lost
my
sight,
I
liked
to
see
As
other
creatures
with
eyes,
And
knew
no
other
way.
But
if
I
were
told
today
That
I
might
have
the
sky
For
mine,
I
tell
you
my
heart
Would
burst,
for
size
of
me.
The
meadows
are
mine,
the
mountains
too,
—
All
forests,
endless
stars,
As
much
of
noon
as
I
could
see
Between
my
human
eyes.
The
flights
of
birds,
the
lightning's
path,
For
me
to
watch
when
I
pleased,
—
The
news
would
shock
me
dead!
So
safer,
guess,
with
just
my
soul
At
the
window
glass,
Where
others
put
their
eyes,
Careless
of
the
sun.
