XXVI.
THE
STORM.
A
wind
came
like
a
trumpet,
Shaking
through
the
grass;
A
chill
ran
through
the
heat,
A
sign
that
it
would
pass.
We
closed
the
windows
and
the
doors
As
if
a
ghost
was
near;
The
storm
passed
by
so
quickly,
Leaving
fear
and
cheer.
Trees
shook
and
fences
moved,
Rivers
ran
with
speed;
People
watched
in
wonder
At
nature's
sudden
deed.
The
bell
in
the
church
tower
Rang
out
the
news;
So
much
can
come
and
go,
Yet
the
world
stays
as
it
is.
