Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
The Red-Headed League
Capítulo 2, Página 22
“Tonight
will
be
more
exciting,”
said
Holmes.
“For
you,
Mr.
Merryweather,
it
is
about
£30,000.
For
you,
Jones,
it
is
about
catching
a
man.”
“John
Clay,
the
criminal.
He
is
young
but
very
clever.
I
want
to
catch
him.
He
is
smart.
He
does
many
crimes.
I
have
looked
for
him
for
years.”
“I
hope
to
meet
him
tonight,”
said
Holmes.
“I
have
dealt
with
him
before.
It
is
past
ten.
We
should
go.
You
two
take
the
first
cab.
Watson
and
I
will
follow.”
Holmes
did
not
talk
much
in
the
cab.
He
hummed
music.
We
drove
through
many
streets.
Then
we
got
to
Farrington
Street.
“We
are
close,”
Holmes
said.
“Mr.
Merryweather
is
a
bank
director.
He
cares
about
this.
Jones
is
with
us
too.
He
is
brave.
Here
we
are,
and
they
are
waiting.”
We
reached
a
busy
street.
We
left
the
cabs.
Mr.
Merryweather
led
us
through
a
side
door.
Inside
was
a
corridor
and
a
big
iron
gate.
He
opened
it.
We
went
down
stone
steps
to
another
gate.
Mr.
Merryweather
lit
a
lantern.
We
walked
down
a
dark
passage.
Then
we
went
into
a
big
cellar
with
crates
and
boxes.
“You
are
safe
from
above,”
said
Holmes,
holding
the
lantern.
“And
from
below,”
said
Mr.
Merryweather.
He
tapped
the
floor
with
his
stick.
“It
sounds
hollow!”
he
said,
surprised.
