Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
The Adventure of the Engineer's Thumb
Capítulo 9, Página 2
I
looked
at
the
card.
"Mr.
Victor
Hatherley,
hydraulic
engineer,
16A,
Victoria
Street."
I
said,
"Sorry
to
keep
you
waiting.
A
night
train
is
boring."
"Oh,
my
night
was
not
boring,"
he
said
and
laughed
loudly.
It
was
a
strange
laugh.
"Stop
it!"
I
said.
"Calm
down!"
I
poured
some
water.
He
couldn't
stop
laughing.
Soon,
he
was
quiet,
looking
tired
and
pale.
"I
acted
silly,"
he
said.
"Not
at
all.
Drink
this."
I
added
brandy
to
the
water.
His
face
looked
better.
"That's
better!"
he
said.
"Now,
Doctor,
can
you
look
at
my
thumb,
or
where
it
was?"
He
took
off
the
handkerchief.
His
thumb
was
gone,
just
a
red,
spongy
spot.
It
looked
terrible.
