in

and
the
letter
was
addressed
to
"Sherlock
Holmes,
Esq.
To
be
left
till
called
for."
My
friend
opened
it,
and
we
read
it
together.
It
was
dated
at
midnight
and
said:
"MY
DEAR
MR.
SHERLOCK
HOLMES,—You
did
very
well.
You
fooled
me
completely.
Until
the
fire
alarm,
I
did
not
suspect.
But
then
I
saw
how
I
gave
myself
away
and
started
to
think.
I

warned

the
King

the
