Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
The Man with the Twisted Lip
Capítulo 6, Página 1
Isa
Whitney
was
the
brother
of
Elias
Whitney,
who
was
the
Principal
of
St.
George's
Theological
College.
Isa
had
a
big
problem
with
opium.
He
started
using
it
in
college
after
reading
about
it
in
a
book.
He
thought
it
would
be
fun,
but
soon
he
couldn't
stop.
His
friends
and
family
felt
sorry
for
him.
I
remember
him
with
a
pale
face
and
tired
eyes,
sitting
in
a
chair,
not
the
man
he
once
was.
One
night
in
June
1889,
someone
rang
my
doorbell.
It
was
the
time
of
night
when
a
man
starts
to
yawn
and
looks
at
the
clock.
I
sat
up,
and
my
wife
put
her
sewing
down
and
looked
disappointed.
"A
patient!"
she
said.
"You
have
to
go
out."
I
groaned
because
I
had
just
come
back
from
a
long
day.
We
heard
the
door
open,
someone
spoke
quickly,
and
then
we
heard
fast
steps
on
the
floor.
Our
door
opened,
and
a
lady
in
dark
clothes
with
a
black
veil
came
in.
"Excuse
me
for
coming
so
late,"
she
said.
Then
she
ran
to
my
wife,
hugged
her,
and
cried.
"Oh,
I'm
in
such
trouble!"
she
said.
"I
need
help."
"Why,
it's
Kate
Whitney,"
said
my
wife,
lifting
the
veil.
"You
scared
me,
Kate!
I
didn't
know
it
was
you."
"I
didn't
know
what
to
do,
so
I
came
straight
to
you."
People
always
came
to
my
wife
when
they
were
upset.
