Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
The Adventure of the Speckled Band
Capítulo 8, Página 1
I
looked
at
my
notes
from
the
last
eight
years.
I
studied
many
cases
with
my
friend
Sherlock
Holmes.
Some
were
sad,
some
funny,
and
many
strange,
but
none
were
boring.
Holmes
worked
for
the
love
of
his
work,
not
for
money.
He
only
took
unusual
cases.
One
case
was
more
strange
than
the
others.
It
was
about
the
Roylott
family
from
Stoke
Moran
in
Surrey.
It
happened
when
I
first
started
working
with
Holmes.
We
lived
together
on
Baker
Street.
I
promised
to
keep
the
story
secret,
but
now
I
can
tell
it
because
the
lady
involved
has
passed
away.
People
have
many
ideas
about
Dr.
Grimesby
Roylott's
death,
and
the
truth
should
be
known.
It
was
early
April
in
1883.
I
woke
up
one
morning
and
saw
Sherlock
Holmes
standing
by
my
bed.
He
was
already
dressed.
Holmes
usually
got
up
late,
so
I
was
surprised.
The
clock
showed
it
was
only
7:15.
I
was
not
happy
because
I
liked
my
routine.
"Sorry
to
wake
you,
Watson,"
he
said.
"But
it's
a
busy
morning.
Mrs.
Hudson
woke
me
up,
and
now
I'm
waking
you."
"Is
there
a
fire?"
I
asked.
"No,
it's
a
client.
A
young
lady
is
here
and
very
upset.
She
wants
to
see
me.
She's
in
the
sitting-room
now.
When
young
ladies
come
out
so
early,
it
must
be
important.
If
it
is
an
interesting
case,
I
know
you
will
want
to
be
involved.
So
I
called
you."
"I
wouldn't
miss
it
for
anything,"
I
said.
I
loved
going
with
Holmes
on
his
investigations.
I
admired
how
he
solved
problems
quickly
and
logically.
I
got
dressed
quickly
and
went
to
the
sitting-room
with
him.
A
lady
in
black
with
a
veil
was
sitting
by
the
window.
She
stood
up
when
we
entered.
"Good
morning,
madam,"
Holmes
said
happily.
"I
am
Sherlock
Holmes.
This
is
my
friend,
Dr.
Watson.
You
can
speak
freely
in
front
of
him.
I
see
Mrs.
Hudson
lit
the
fire.
Come
closer,
and
I
will
get
you
some
hot
coffee.
You
are
shivering."
