Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
The Adventure of the Speckled Band
Capítulo 8, Página 18
"Ah!
That's
interesting.
On
the
other
side
of
this
wing
is
the
corridor.
Do
these
rooms
open
to
it?
And
are
there
windows?"
"Yes,
but
they
are
very
small.
Too
small
for
anyone
to
get
through."
"Since
you
both
lock
your
doors
at
night,
no
one
can
enter
from
that
side.
Could
you
please
go
into
your
room
and
close
the
shutters?"
Miss
Stoner
did
so.
Holmes
tried
to
open
the
shutter
from
outside
but
couldn't.
There
was
no
space
for
a
knife
to
lift
the
bar.
He
checked
the
hinges
with
his
lens;
they
were
strong
iron
in
the
thick
wall.
"Hmm,"
he
said,
scratching
his
chin,
"my
idea
has
some
problems.
No
one
can
get
past
these
shutters
if
they
are
locked.
Let's
see
if
the
inside
gives
us
more
clues."
A
small
door
led
to
the
white
corridor
with
three
bedrooms.
Holmes
didn't
check
the
third
room,
so
we
went
to
the
second
one,
where
Miss
Stoner
now
slept.
Her
sister
had
died
there.
It
was
a
simple
room
with
a
low
ceiling
and
a
big
fireplace,
like
old
country
houses.
A
brown
chest
was
in
one
corner,
a
narrow
bed
in
another,
and
a
dressing
table
by
the
window.
Two
small
chairs
and
a
piece
of
carpet
were
also
there.
The
walls
were
old
oak,
dark
and
worn.
Holmes
sat
in
a
chair
and
looked
carefully
at
everything
in
the
room.
"Where
does
that
bell
go?"
he
asked,
pointing
to
a
thick
bell-rope
hanging
by
the
bed.
"It
goes
to
the
housekeeper's
room."
"It
looks
newer
than
the
other
things."
