Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
A Scandal in Bohemia
Capítulo 1, Página 24
“She
won’t
be
able
to.
Listen,
I
hear
wheels.
Her
carriage
is
coming.
Now,
follow
my
instructions
exactly.”
As
he
spoke,
the
lights
of
a
carriage
appeared
around
the
corner
of
the
avenue.
It
was
a
nice
little
landau
that
stopped
in
front
of
Briony
Lodge.
As
it
stopped,
one
of
the
men
on
the
corner
ran
to
open
the
door,
hoping
for
a
tip,
but
another
man
pushed
him
aside
to
do
the
same.
A
fierce
argument
started,
involving
the
two
soldiers,
who
sided
with
one
of
the
men,
and
the
scissors-grinder,
who
supported
the
other.
A
fight
broke
out,
and
soon
the
lady
who
stepped
out
of
the
carriage
was
surrounded
by
men
hitting
each
other.
Holmes
rushed
into
the
crowd
to
protect
her,
but
as
he
reached
her,
he
cried
out
and
fell
to
the
ground,
blood
running
down
his
face.
When
he
fell,
the
soldiers
ran
one
way
and
the
other
men
ran
another,
while
better-dressed
people
who
had
been
watching
rushed
to
help
the
lady
and
the
injured
man.
Irene
Adler,
as
I
will
call
her,
hurried
up
the
steps
but
stood
at
the
top,
looking
back
into
the
street.
“Is
the
poor
gentleman
badly
hurt?”
she
asked.
“He
is
dead,”
several
voices
cried.
“No,
no,
he’s
alive!”
shouted
another.
“But
he’ll
die
before
you
can
get
him
to
a
hospital.”
“He’s
a
brave
man,”
said
a
woman.
“They
would
have
taken
the
lady’s
purse
and
watch
if
not
for
him.
They
were
a
gang,
and
a
rough
one.
Ah,
he’s
breathing
now.”
“He
can’t
stay
in
the
street.
Can
we
bring
him
inside,
ma’am?”
“Of
course.
Bring
him
into
the
sitting
room.
There’s
a
comfortable
sofa.
This
way,
please!”
