Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
The Adventure of the Beryl Coronet
Capítulo 11, Página 21
The
banker
wrung
his
hands.
"I'll
never
see
them
again!"
he
cried.
"And
my
son?
Do
you
give
me
hope?"
"My
opinion
hasn't
changed."
"Then,
for
God's
sake,
what
happened
in
my
house
last
night?"
"If
you
come
to
my
Baker
Street
rooms
tomorrow
morning
between
nine
and
ten,
I'll
try
to
explain.
You
allow
me
to
act
for
you,
as
long
as
I
recover
the
gems,
and
there's
no
limit
on
the
money
I
can
use?"
"I'd
give
my
fortune
to
have
them
back."
"Very
well.
I'll
work
on
it
until
then.
Goodbye;
I
might
need
to
come
back
here
before
evening."
It
was
clear
to
me
that
my
companion
had
made
up
his
mind
about
the
case,
although
I
couldn't
even
guess
his
conclusions.
Several
times
during
our
journey
home,
I
tried
to
get
him
to
talk
about
it,
but
he
always
changed
the
subject.
Eventually,
I
gave
up.
It
wasn't
yet
three
when
we
returned
to
our
rooms.
He
went
to
his
room
and
came
back
dressed
like
a
common
loafer.
With
his
collar
turned
up,
worn
coat,
red
scarf,
and
old
boots,
he
looked
the
part
perfectly.
"I
think
this
will
do,"
he
said,
looking
in
the
mirror
above
the
fireplace.
"I
wish
you
could
come
with
me,
Watson,
but
I
don't
think
it's
a
good
idea.
I
might
be
on
the
right
track,
or
I
might
be
chasing
a
false
lead,
but
I'll
soon
find
out.
I
hope
to
be
back
in
a
few
hours."
He
cut
a
slice
of
beef,
put
it
between
two
pieces
of
bread,
and
put
this
simple
meal
in
his
pocket
before
leaving.
