Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
The Adventure of the Copper Beeches
Capítulo 12, Página 24
"He
came
back
and
did
it.
I
tell
you,
he's
clever
and
dangerous.
I
wouldn't
be
surprised
if
that's
him
coming
up
the
stairs
now.
Watson,
you
might
want
to
have
your
pistol
ready."
Just
as
he
finished
speaking,
a
large
man
appeared
at
the
door,
holding
a
heavy
stick.
Miss
Hunter
screamed
and
moved
against
the
wall,
but
Sherlock
Holmes
stepped
forward
to
face
him.
"You
villain!"
he
shouted.
"Where
is
your
daughter?"
The
fat
man
looked
around,
then
up
at
the
open
skylight.
"I
should
be
asking
you
that,"
he
screamed.
"You
thieves!
Spies
and
thieves!
I've
caught
you,
haven't
I?
You're
in
my
power
now.
I'll
deal
with
you!"
He
turned
and
ran
down
the
stairs
as
fast
as
he
could.
"He's
gone
to
get
the
dog!"
cried
Miss
Hunter.
"I
have
my
revolver,"
I
said.
"Better
close
the
front
door,"
shouted
Holmes,
and
we
all
rushed
down
the
stairs
together.
We
had
barely
reached
the
hall
when
we
heard
a
dog
barking
and
then
a
scream
of
pain,
followed
by
a
terrible
growling
sound.
An
elderly
man
with
a
red
face
and
shaking
hands
stumbled
out
of
a
side
door.
