Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
The Red-Headed League
Capítulo 2, Página 21
“Good.
And,
Doctor,
there
might
be
some
danger,
so
please
bring
your
army
revolver.”
He
waved
and
quickly
disappeared
into
the
crowd.
I
hope
I’m
not
slower
than
others,
but
I
often
felt
stupid
with
Sherlock
Holmes.
I
heard
and
saw
the
same
things
he
did,
yet
he
understood
clearly
what
had
happened
and
what
would
happen.
To
me,
it
was
all
confusing.
As
I
drove
home
to
Kensington,
I
thought
about
everything,
from
the
strange
story
of
the
red-headed
copier
to
our
visit
to
Saxe-Coburg
Square.
What
was
this
night
plan,
and
why
should
I
be
armed?
Where
were
we
going,
and
what
would
we
do?
Holmes
hinted
that
the
pawnbroker’s
assistant
was
a
dangerous
man.
I
tried
to
understand
it
but
gave
up
and
waited
for
night
to
explain.
At
quarter-past
nine,
I
left
home
and
walked
through
the
Park,
then
Oxford
Street
to
Baker
Street.
Two
hansom
cabs
were
at
the
door.
Inside,
I
heard
voices
from
above.
In
Holmes’s
room,
he
was
talking
with
two
men.
One
was
Peter
Jones,
a
police
agent,
and
the
other
was
a
tall,
sad-looking
man
with
a
shiny
hat
and
formal
coat.
“Our
group
is
complete,”
said
Holmes,
buttoning
his
jacket
and
taking
a
hunting
crop.
“Watson,
you
know
Mr.
Jones
from
Scotland
Yard.
This
is
Mr.
Merryweather,
joining
us
tonight.”
“We’re
working
together
again,
Doctor,”
said
Jones
importantly.
“Our
friend
here
is
great
at
starting
a
chase.
He
just
needs
someone
to
help
catch
the
culprit.”
“I
hope
this
isn’t
a
wild
goose
chase,”
said
Mr.
Merryweather
gloomily.
“You
can
trust
Mr.
Holmes,”
said
the
police
agent
confidently.
“His
methods
are
a
bit
theoretical,
but
he’s
a
good
detective.
He’s
been
right
more
than
the
official
force,
like
in
the
Sholto
murder
and
Agra
treasure
cases.”
“If
you
say
so,
Mr.
Jones,
I
trust
you,”
said
the
stranger
respectfully.
“But
I
miss
my
Saturday
night
card
game.
It’s
the
first
time
in
twenty-seven
years
I’ve
missed
it.”
