Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
A Scandal in Bohemia
Capítulo 1, Página 24
“She
won’t
be
able
to.
But
I
hear
wheels.
It’s
her
carriage.
Now,
follow
my
instructions
exactly.”
As
he
spoke,
the
lights
of
a
carriage
appeared
around
the
corner.
It
was
a
smart
little
landau
that
pulled
up
to
Briony
Lodge.
As
it
stopped,
one
of
the
men
loitering
at
the
corner
rushed
to
open
the
door,
hoping
to
earn
a
coin,
but
was
pushed
aside
by
another
man
with
the
same
idea.
A
fierce
argument
started,
joined
by
the
two
soldiers
who
sided
with
one
man,
and
the
scissors-grinder
who
supported
the
other.
A
blow
was
struck,
and
suddenly
the
lady
who
had
stepped
from
the
carriage
was
surrounded
by
a
group
of
angry,
fighting
men.
Holmes
dashed
into
the
crowd
to
protect
her,
but
just
as
he
reached
her,
he
cried
out
and
fell
to
the
ground,
blood
streaming
down
his
face.
At
his
fall,
the
soldiers
ran
one
way
and
the
loungers
the
other,
while
several
well-dressed
people
who
had
been
watching
rushed
in
to
help
the
lady
and
attend
to
the
injured
man.
Irene
Adler,
as
I
will
continue
to
call
her,
hurried
up
the
steps,
but
stood
at
the
top,
her
figure
outlined
against
the
lights
of
the
hall,
looking
back
at
the
street.
“Is
the
poor
gentleman
badly
hurt?”
she
asked.
“He’s
dead!”
several
voices
shouted.
“No,
no,
he’s
still
alive!”
another
shouted.
“But
he’ll
die
before
you
get
him
to
a
hospital.”
“He’s
a
brave
man,”
said
a
woman.
“They
would
have
taken
the
lady’s
purse
and
watch
if
not
for
him.
They
were
a
gang,
and
a
rough
one
at
that.
Ah,
he’s
breathing
now.”
“He
can’t
stay
in
the
street.
Can
we
bring
him
inside,
ma’am?”
“Of
course.
Bring
him
into
the
sitting-room.
There’s
a
comfortable
sofa.
This
way,
please!”
