Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
A Scandal in Bohemia
Capítulo 1, Página 25
Slowly
and
solemnly,
he
was
carried
into
Briony
Lodge
and
laid
out
in
the
main
room,
while
I
watched
from
my
position
by
the
window.
The
lamps
were
lit,
but
the
blinds
were
open,
so
I
could
see
Holmes
on
the
couch.
I
don’t
know
if
he
felt
guilty
at
that
moment
for
his
role,
but
I
felt
deeply
ashamed
of
myself
when
I
saw
the
beautiful
woman
we
were
plotting
against,
and
the
grace
and
kindness
with
which
she
attended
to
the
injured
man.
Yet,
it
would
be
a
great
betrayal
to
Holmes
to
back
out
now
from
the
role
he
had
given
me.
I
steeled
myself
and
took
the
smoke-rocket
from
under
my
coat.
After
all,
I
thought,
we
are
not
harming
her.
We
are
just
preventing
her
from
harming
someone
else.
Holmes
sat
up
on
the
couch
and
gestured
as
if
he
needed
air.
A
maid
rushed
to
open
the
window.
At
the
same
moment,
I
saw
him
raise
his
hand,
and
at
the
signal,
I
threw
my
rocket
into
the
room,
shouting
“Fire!”
As
soon
as
the
word
left
my
mouth,
the
entire
crowd
of
onlookers,
both
well-dressed
and
shabby—gentlemen,
stable
boys,
and
maids—joined
in
a
chorus
of
“Fire!”
Thick
smoke
curled
through
the
room
and
out
the
open
window.
I
glimpsed
rushing
figures,
and
moments
later,
heard
Holmes’
voice
from
inside,
assuring
them
it
was
a
false
alarm.
Slipping
through
the
shouting
crowd,
I
made
my
way
to
the
corner
of
the
street,
and
within
ten
minutes,
was
relieved
to
find
my
friend’s
arm
in
mine,
leaving
the
chaos
behind.
He
walked
quickly
and
silently
for
some
minutes
until
we
turned
down
a
quiet
street
leading
towards
Edgeware
Road.
“You
did
it
very
well,
Doctor,”
he
said.
“Nothing
could
have
been
better.
Everything
is
fine.”
“Do
you
have
the
photograph?”
“I
know
where
it
is.”
“How
did
you
find
out?”
“She
showed
me,
just
as
I
said
she
would.”
“I’m
still
not
clear.”
