Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
The Adventure of the Beryl Coronet
Capítulo 11, Página 21
The
banker
wrung
his
hands.
"I'll
never
see
them
again!"
he
cried.
"And
my
son?
Do
you
give
me
hope?"
"My
opinion
hasn't
changed."
"Then,
for
heaven's
sake,
what
happened
in
my
house
last
night?"
"If
you
come
to
my
Baker
Street
rooms
tomorrow
morning
between
nine
and
ten,
I'll
try
to
make
it
clearer.
I
understand
you
give
me
full
authority
to
act
for
you,
as
long
as
I
recover
the
gems,
with
no
limit
on
the
funds
I
may
use."
"I'd
give
my
fortune
to
have
them
back."
"Very
well.
I'll
look
into
it
before
then.
Goodbye;
I
might
need
to
come
back
here
again
before
evening."
It
was
clear
to
me
that
my
companion
had
made
up
his
mind
about
the
case,
though
I
couldn't
even
guess
his
conclusions.
Several
times
on
our
way
home,
I
tried
to
get
him
to
talk
about
it,
but
he
always
changed
the
subject,
and
eventually,
I
gave
up.
It
wasn't
yet
three
when
we
returned
to
our
rooms.
He
hurried
to
his
chamber
and
came
down
a
few
minutes
later
dressed
as
a
common
loafer.
With
his
collar
turned
up,
his
shabby
coat,
red
cravat,
and
worn
boots,
he
looked
the
part
perfectly.
"I
think
this
should
do,"
he
said,
glancing
at
the
mirror
above
the
fireplace.
"I
wish
you
could
come
with
me,
Watson,
but
I
fear
it
won't
do.
I
might
be
on
the
right
track,
or
I
might
be
chasing
a
ghost,
but
I'll
soon
find
out.
I
hope
to
be
back
in
a
few
hours."
He
cut
a
slice
of
beef
from
the
joint
on
the
sideboard,
put
it
between
two
pieces
of
bread,
and
shoved
this
simple
meal
into
his
pocket
before
heading
out
on
his
mission.
