Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
The Boscombe Valley Mystery
Capítulo 4, Página 24
"Holmes,"
I
said,
"you've
built
a
trap
around
this
man
that
he
can't
escape,
and
you've
saved
an
innocent
life
as
surely
as
if
you'd
cut
the
rope
that
was
hanging
him.
I
see
where
all
this
leads.
The
culprit
is—"
"Mr.
John
Turner,"
announced
the
hotel
waiter,
opening
the
door
to
our
sitting-room
and
showing
in
a
guest.
The
man
who
entered
was
an
unusual
and
impressive
figure.
His
slow,
limping
step
and
bent
shoulders
made
him
look
old,
yet
his
rugged,
lined
features
and
large
limbs
showed
he
had
great
physical
strength
and
character.
His
tangled
beard,
grizzled
hair,
and
heavy,
drooping
eyebrows
gave
him
an
air
of
dignity
and
power,
but
his
face
was
ashen,
and
his
lips
and
nostrils
were
tinged
with
blue.
It
was
clear
to
me
at
once
that
he
was
suffering
from
a
serious,
chronic
illness.
"Please
sit
on
the
sofa,"
said
Holmes
gently.
"Did
you
get
my
note?"
"Yes,
the
lodge-keeper
brought
it.
You
said
you
wanted
to
see
me
here
to
avoid
scandal."
"I
thought
people
would
gossip
if
I
went
to
the
Hall."
"And
why
did
you
want
to
see
me?"
He
looked
at
my
companion
with
despair
in
his
tired
eyes,
as
if
he
already
knew
the
answer.
"Yes,"
said
Holmes,
responding
to
the
look
rather
than
the
words.
"It's
true.
I
know
all
about
McCarthy."
