Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
The Adventure of the Speckled Band
Capítulo 8, Página 16
"There's
some
construction
going
on
there,"
Holmes
said.
"That's
where
we're
headed."
"There's
the
village,"
the
driver
said,
pointing
to
a
cluster
of
roofs
some
distance
to
the
left,
"but
if
you
want
to
reach
the
house,
it's
shorter
to
go
over
this
stile
and
take
the
footpath
across
the
fields.
There
it
is,
where
the
lady
is
walking."
"And
the
lady,
I
believe,
is
Miss
Stoner,"
Holmes
observed,
shading
his
eyes.
"Yes,
we
should
do
as
you
suggest."
We
got
off,
paid
our
fare,
and
the
carriage
rattled
back
towards
Leatherhead.
"I
thought
it
best,"
said
Holmes
as
we
climbed
the
stile,
"that
this
fellow
thinks
we're
here
as
architects
or
on
some
business.
It
might
stop
his
gossip.
Good
afternoon,
Miss
Stoner.
You
see,
we
kept
our
promise."
Our
morning
client
hurried
to
meet
us
with
a
face
full
of
joy.
"I've
been
waiting
eagerly
for
you,"
she
exclaimed,
shaking
our
hands
warmly.
"Everything
has
worked
out
well.
Dr.
Roylott
has
gone
to
town
and
likely
won't
return
before
evening."
"We've
had
the
pleasure
of
meeting
the
Doctor,"
Holmes
said,
briefly
recounting
what
happened.
Miss
Stoner
turned
pale
as
she
listened.
"Good
heavens!"
she
cried,
"he's
followed
me,
then."
