Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
The Adventure of the Speckled Band
Capítulo 8, Página 17
"So
it
seems."
"He's
so
cunning,
I
never
know
when
I'm
safe
from
him.
What
will
he
say
when
he
gets
back?"
"He
must
be
careful,
for
he
might
find
someone
more
cunning
on
his
trail.
You
must
lock
yourself
away
from
him
tonight.
If
he
becomes
violent,
we'll
take
you
to
your
aunt's
at
Harrow.
Now,
let's
make
the
best
use
of
our
time,
so
please
take
us
to
the
rooms
we
need
to
examine."
The
building
was
made
of
grey
stone,
marked
with
lichen,
and
had
a
tall
central
section
with
two
curved
wings
extending
like
crab
claws
on
each
side.
One
wing
had
broken
windows
covered
with
wooden
boards,
and
the
roof
was
partly
collapsed,
giving
it
a
ruined
appearance.
The
central
section
wasn't
in
much
better
shape,
but
the
right-hand
block
was
relatively
modern.
The
blinds
in
the
windows
and
the
blue
smoke
rising
from
the
chimneys
showed
that
this
was
where
the
family
lived.
Scaffolding
had
been
set
up
against
the
end
wall,
and
the
stonework
had
been
broken
into,
but
there
were
no
workmen
present
when
we
visited.
Holmes
walked
slowly
across
the
unkempt
lawn,
examining
the
windows'
exteriors
with
great
attention.
"This,
I
assume,
is
the
room
where
you
used
to
sleep,
the
middle
one
was
your
sister’s,
and
the
one
next
to
the
main
building
was
Dr.
Roylott’s
room?"
"Exactly.
But
now
I
sleep
in
the
middle
one."
"While
the
alterations
are
happening,
if
I
understand
correctly.
By
the
way,
there
doesn’t
seem
to
be
an
urgent
need
for
repairs
on
that
end
wall."
"There
weren’t
any.
I
believe
it
was
just
an
excuse
to
move
me
from
my
room."
