Las aventuras de Sherlock Holmes
The Adventure of the Engineer's Thumb
Capítulo 9, Página 5
“Ah!”
I
said.
“If
it’s
a
problem
you
want
solved,
I
strongly
suggest
you
see
my
friend,
Mr.
Sherlock
Holmes,
before
going
to
the
police.”
“I’ve
heard
of
him,”
my
visitor
replied.
“I’d
be
glad
if
he
took
the
case,
though
I’ll
still
need
the
police.
Could
you
introduce
me
to
him?”
“I’ll
do
better.
I’ll
take
you
to
him
myself.”
“I’d
be
very
grateful.”
“We’ll
call
a
cab
and
go
together.
We’ll
be
just
in
time
for
breakfast
with
him.
Can
you
manage
that?”
“Yes;
I
won’t
be
at
ease
until
I’ve
told
my
story.”
“Then
my
servant
will
call
a
cab,
and
I’ll
be
with
you
in
a
moment.”
I
quickly
explained
the
situation
to
my
wife
and,
within
five
minutes,
was
in
a
hansom
cab
with
my
new
acquaintance,
heading
to
Baker
Street.
Sherlock
Holmes
was,
as
I
anticipated,
relaxing
in
his
sitting-room,
wearing
his
dressing-gown.
He
was
reading
the
agony
column
of
The
Times
and
smoking
his
morning
pipe,
made
from
the
remnants
of
the
previous
day's
smokes,
carefully
dried
and
collected
on
the
mantelpiece.
He
welcomed
us
warmly,
ordered
fresh
bacon
and
eggs,
and
joined
us
for
a
hearty
breakfast.
After
we
finished,
he
settled
our
new
acquaintance
on
the
sofa,
placed
a
pillow
under
his
head,
and
set
a
glass
of
brandy
and
water
nearby.
