Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 15, Página 1
A
few
minutes
later,
Tom
was
in
the
shallow
water.
He
walked
to
the
Illinois
shore.
The
water
got
deep,
so
he
swam.
He
swam
fast
and
reached
the
shore.
He
checked
his
pocket
for
the
bark.
It
was
safe.
He
walked
through
the
woods
with
wet
clothes.
Before
ten
o'clock,
he
saw
the
village.
The
ferryboat
was
there.
Everything
was
quiet.
He
went
down
the
bank.
He
watched
carefully,
got
into
the
water,
swam
a
little,
and
climbed
into
the
small
boat.
He
lay
down
and
waited.
Soon,
the
bell
rang,
and
someone
said,
"Cast
off."
The
boat
started
moving.
Tom
felt
happy.
It
was
the
last
trip
for
the
night.
After
a
while,
the
boat
stopped.
Tom
slipped
into
the
water
and
swam
to
the
shore.
He
landed
safely
away
from
people.
He
ran
through
empty
alleys.
Soon,
he
was
at
his
aunt's
back
fence.
He
climbed
over
and
looked
in
the
window.
Aunt
Polly,
Sid,
Mary,
and
Joe
Harper's
mom
were
talking.
The
bed
was
between
them
and
the
door.
Tom
went
to
the
door
and
opened
it
slowly.
He
pushed
it
a
little
and
went
inside
on
his
knees.
"Why
is
the
candle
moving?"
said
Aunt
Polly.
Tom
moved
quickly.
"The
door
is
open.
Sid,
go
and
close
it."
Tom
hid
under
the
bed
just
in
time.
He
lay
there
and
breathed.
Then
he
moved
close
to
his
aunt's
foot.
"As
I
was
saying,"
said
Aunt
Polly,
"Tom
wasn't
bad.
He
was
just
playful.
He
didn't
mean
harm.
He
was
the
best
boy."
She
started
to
cry.
"My
Joe
was
the
same,"
said
Mrs.
Harper.
"He
was
always
naughty
but
kind.
I
whipped
him
for
taking
cream.
I
forgot
I
threw
it
out.
Now
I
won't
see
him
again."
Mrs.
Harper
cried
hard.
"I
hope
Tom
is
better
now,"
said
Sid.
"But
he
could
be
better
in
some
ways—"
