Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 16, Página 1
After
dinner,
the
boys
went
to
find
turtle
eggs
on
the
sand.
They
used
sticks
to
poke
the
sand.
When
they
found
a
soft
spot,
they
dug
with
their
hands.
Sometimes
they
found
fifty
or
sixty
eggs
in
one
hole.
The
eggs
were
round
and
white.
They
had
a
big
fried-egg
feast
that
night
and
another
on
Friday
morning.
After
breakfast,
they
ran
and
played
on
the
sand.
They
took
off
their
clothes
as
they
ran.
They
played
in
the
water.
The
water
was
strong
and
made
them
fall.
They
laughed
and
splashed
water
at
each
other.
They
grabbed
each
other
and
played
until
they
went
under
the
water.
They
came
up
laughing
and
breathing
hard.
When
they
got
tired,
they
lay
on
the
hot
sand.
They
covered
themselves
with
sand.
Then
they
ran
back
to
the
water
to
play
again.
They
thought
their
skin
looked
like
circus
clothes.
So,
they
drew
a
circle
in
the
sand
and
had
a
circus.
They
all
wanted
to
be
clowns.
Next,
they
played
marbles.
They
played
games
like
“knucks”
and
“keeps”
until
they
got
bored.
Joe
and
Huck
went
for
another
swim.
Tom
did
not
go
because
he
lost
his
snake
rattle.
He
thought
it
kept
him
safe.
He
looked
for
it
before
swimming
again.
The
other
boys
were
tired
and
wanted
to
rest.
They
sat
and
looked
at
the
river.
Tom
wrote
“BECKY”
in
the
sand
with
his
toe.
He
erased
it
and
felt
angry.
Then
he
wrote
it
again.
He
erased
it
and
went
to
join
the
other
boys.
Joe
felt
very
homesick.
He
wanted
to
cry.
Huck
felt
sad,
too.
Tom
felt
sad
but
tried
to
hide
it.
He
had
a
secret
he
did
not
want
to
tell
yet.
He
thought
he
might
tell
it
if
they
stayed
sad.
He
said
happily:
“I
bet
pirates
were
here
before,
boys.
Let’s
explore
again.
They
hid
treasure
here.
How
would
you
feel
to
find
a
chest
of
gold
and
silver?”
The
boys
did
not
get
excited.
They
did
not
reply.
Tom
tried
to
make
them
happy
with
other
ideas,
but
nothing
worked.
Joe
poked
the
sand
with
a
stick
and
looked
sad.
Finally,
he
said:
“Oh,
boys,
let’s
stop.
I
want
to
go
home.
It’s
too
lonely.”
