Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 11, Página 1
Just
before
noon,
the
whole
village
heard
the
terrible
news.
They
did
not
need
a
telegraph;
the
story
spread
quickly
from
person
to
person.
The
schoolmaster
gave
the
students
the
afternoon
off.
People
would
think
it
strange
if
he
did
not.
A
bloody
knife
was
found
near
the
dead
man.
Someone
said
it
belonged
to
Muff
Potter.
A
man
saw
Potter
washing
in
the
stream
at
one
or
two
in
the
morning.
Potter
left
quickly,
which
was
suspicious
because
he
did
not
usually
wash.
The
town
searched
everywhere
for
this
"murderer,"
but
they
could
not
find
him.
Horsemen
rode
out
on
all
roads,
and
the
Sheriff
was
sure
they
would
catch
him
before
night.
Everyone
was
going
to
the
graveyard.
Tom
felt
sad
but
joined
them.
He
did
not
want
to
go,
but
something
pulled
him
there.
When
he
arrived,
he
pushed
through
the
crowd
and
saw
the
sad
scene.
It
felt
like
a
long
time
since
he
was
last
there.
Someone
pinched
his
arm.
He
turned
and
saw
Huckleberry.
They
quickly
looked
away,
hoping
no
one
noticed.
Everyone
was
talking
and
focused
on
the
terrible
sight.
“People
said,
"Poor
fellow!"
and
"This
is
a
lesson
for
grave
robbers!"
They
also
said,
"Muff
Potter
will
hang
for
this
if
they
catch
him!"
The
minister
added,
"It
was
a
judgment;
His
hand
is
here."
Tom
shivered
because
he
saw
Injun
Joe's
serious
face.
The
crowd
began
to
move
and
shout,
"It's
him!
It's
him!
He's
coming
himself!"
"Who?
Who?"
asked
many
voices.
"Muff
Potter!"
"Look,
he
stopped!
Watch
out,
he's
turning!
Don't
let
him
escape!"
