Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 10, Página 10
Then
they
went
their
separate
ways,
thinking.
When
Tom
climbed
into
his
bedroom
window,
the
night
was
almost
over.
He
undressed
very
quietly
and
fell
asleep,
happy
that
nobody
knew
about
his
adventure.
He
did
not
know
that
Sid,
who
was
gently
snoring,
was
awake
and
had
been
for
an
hour.
When
Tom
woke
up,
Sid
was
dressed
and
gone.
The
light
seemed
late.
He
was
surprised.
Why
had
nobody
woken
him
up
like
usual?
He
felt
worried.
In
five
minutes,
he
was
dressed
and
downstairs,
feeling
tired.
The
family
was
still
at
the
table,
but
they
had
finished
breakfast.
Nobody
scolded
him,
but
they
did
not
look
at
him.
There
was
a
silence
that
made
Tom
feel
bad.
He
sat
down
and
tried
to
be
happy,
but
it
was
hard.
Nobody
smiled,
and
he
became
quiet,
feeling
sad.
After
breakfast,
his
aunt
took
him
aside.
Tom
hoped
she
would
punish
him,
but
she
did
not.
She
cried
and
asked
how
he
could
hurt
her
so
much.
She
said
he
could
ruin
himself
and
make
her
sad
until
she
died.
This
was
worse
than
many
punishments.
Tom
felt
very
sad.
He
cried
and
asked
for
forgiveness,
promising
to
be
better.
He
left,
feeling
he
did
not
really
get
forgiveness.
He
was
too
sad
to
be
angry
with
Sid,
so
Sid
did
not
need
to
run
away.
Tom
walked
to
school
feeling
gloomy.
He
got
punished
with
Joe
Harper
for
skipping
school
the
day
before.
He
felt
like
he
had
bigger
problems.
He
sat
at
his
desk,
resting
his
head
in
his
hands,
staring
at
the
wall.
His
elbow
pressed
on
something
hard.
After
a
while,
he
moved
and
picked
it
up
with
a
sigh.
It
was
wrapped
in
paper.
He
opened
it
and
sighed
deeply.
It
was
his
brass
andiron
knob!
This
was
the
last
thing
he
could
handle.
