Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 19, Página 1
Tom
came
home
feeling
sad,
and
the
first
thing
his
aunt
said
made
him
feel
worse:
"Tom,
I'm
thinking
of
giving
you
a
hard
time!"
"Auntie,
what
did
I
do?"
"Well,
you
did
plenty.
I
went
to
Sereny
Harper,
thinking
she
would
believe
my
story
about
the
dream.
But
she
found
out
from
Joe
that
you
were
here
and
heard
everything
we
said
that
night.
Tom,
I
don't
know
what
will
happen
to
a
boy
who
acts
like
that.
It
hurts
me
to
think
you
let
me
embarrass
myself
and
didn't
say
anything."
This
was
new
to
Tom.
In
the
morning,
he
thought
it
was
a
funny
joke.
Now
it
seemed
mean.
He
felt
ashamed
and
didn't
know
what
to
say.
Then
he
said:
"Auntie,
I
wish
I
hadn't
done
it—but
I
didn't
think."
"Oh,
child,
you
never
think.
You
only
think
of
yourself.
You
came
from
Jackson's
Island
at
night
to
laugh
at
us,
and
you
fooled
me
with
a
dream
story.
But
you
never
thought
to
help
us
and
stop
our
worry."
"Auntie,
I
know
it
was
mean,
but
I
didn't
mean
to
be
mean.
I
didn't,
honest.
And
I
didn't
come
to
laugh
at
you."
