Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 22, Página 2
There
were
a
few
parties
for
kids,
and
they
were
fun.
But
they
made
the
time
between
them
feel
even
longer.
Becky
Thatcher
went
to
her
home
in
Constantinople
to
stay
with
her
parents
during
vacation.
Life
felt
dull
without
her.
The
secret
about
the
murder
was
always
on
Tom's
mind.
It
was
a
constant
pain
for
him.
Then
Tom
got
the
measles.
For
two
weeks,
Tom
stayed
in
bed,
very
sick.
He
was
not
interested
in
anything.
When
he
finally
went
outside,
everything
seemed
different.
There
had
been
a
"revival,"
and
everyone
had
"got
religion,"
even
the
kids.
Tom
hoped
to
find
someone
who
hadn't
changed,
but
he
was
disappointed.
Joe
Harper
was
reading
a
Testament,
so
Tom
walked
away
sadly.
He
found
Ben
Rogers
giving
out
tracts
to
the
poor.
Jim
Hollis
told
him
the
measles
were
a
blessing.
Every
boy
Tom
met
made
him
feel
worse.
He
went
to
see
Huckleberry
Finn,
but
Huck
quoted
the
Bible
to
him.
Tom
felt
alone
and
went
home,
believing
he
was
lost
forever.
That
night,
a
terrible
storm
came.
There
was
loud
thunder
and
bright
lightning.
Tom
hid
under
his
blankets,
sure
the
storm
was
because
of
him.
He
thought
he
had
upset
the
powers
above,
and
this
was
their
response.
It
seemed
like
a
big
storm
for
a
small
person
like
him.
Eventually,
the
storm
ended
without
doing
anything.
Tom
first
felt
grateful
and
thought
about
changing.
But
then
he
decided
to
wait
and
see
if
there
would
be
more
storms.
The
next
day,
Tom
was
sick
again.
He
stayed
in
bed
for
three
weeks,
which
felt
like
forever.
When
he
finally
went
outside,
he
felt
lonely
and
sad.
He
walked
down
the
street
and
saw
Jim
Hollis
acting
as
a
judge
in
a
game.
They
were
trying
a
cat
for
hurting
a
bird.
He
found
Joe
Harper
and
Huck
Finn
eating
a
stolen
melon.
Like
Tom,
they
had
also
returned
to
old
habits.
