Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 26, Página 11
"Of
course!
Should
have
thought
of
that.
You
mean
Number
One?"
"No—Number
Two—under
the
cross.
The
other
place
is
too
common."
"All
right.
It's
almost
dark
enough
to
go."
Injun
Joe
got
up
and
looked
out
each
window
carefully.
Then
he
said:
"Who
brought
those
tools?
Do
you
think
they
are
upstairs?"
The
boys
stopped
breathing.
Injun
Joe
held
his
knife,
paused,
then
turned
to
the
stairs.
The
boys
thought
of
the
closet,
but
they
were
too
weak.
The
steps
creaked.
The
boys
were
ready
to
hide
when
the
stairs
broke,
and
Injun
Joe
fell
to
the
ground.
He
got
up,
cursing,
and
his
friend
said:
"What's
the
point
of
that?
If
anyone
is
up
there,
let
them
stay—who
cares?
If
they
jump
down
and
get
in
trouble,
who
objects?
It'll
be
dark
soon—let
them
follow
us
if
they
want.
I
think
whoever
left
those
tools
saw
us
and
thought
we
were
ghosts
or
devils.
I
bet
they're
still
running."
Joe
grumbled
but
agreed
they
should
use
the
daylight
to
get
ready.
Soon
they
left
the
house
with
their
box.
