Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 29, Página 1
On
Friday
morning,
Tom
heard
some
good
news.
Judge
Thatcher’s
family
came
back
to
town
last
night.
For
a
moment,
Tom
forgot
about
Injun
Joe
and
the
treasure.
Becky
was
all
he
could
think
about.
He
saw
her
and
they
played
games
with
their
school
friends.
The
day
ended
perfectly.
Becky
asked
her
mom
for
a
picnic
the
next
day,
and
she
said
yes.
Becky
was
very
happy,
and
so
was
Tom.
Invitations
went
out
before
sunset.
The
village
kids
were
excited
and
got
ready.
Tom
stayed
awake
late,
hoping
to
hear
Huck’s
signal
to
find
the
treasure.
But
no
signal
came
that
night.
Morning
came,
and
by
ten
or
eleven,
a
happy
group
gathered
at
Judge
Thatcher’s
house.
Everything
was
ready
to
start.
Older
people
did
not
go
to
picnics.
The
children
were
safe
with
a
few
young
ladies
and
gentlemen.
They
used
the
old
ferry-boat
for
the
trip.
The
kids
walked
down
the
main
street
with
picnic
baskets.
Sid
was
sick
and
stayed
home,
and
Mary
stayed
to
take
care
of
him.
The
last
thing
Mrs.
Thatcher
said
to
Becky
was:
“You
won’t
come
back
until
late.
Maybe
you
should
stay
with
a
friend
near
the
ferry.”
“Then
I’ll
stay
with
Susy
Harper,
mom.”
“Okay.
Be
good
and
don’t
cause
any
trouble.”
As
they
walked,
Tom
said
to
Becky:
“Hey,
I
have
an
idea.
Let’s
not
go
to
Joe
Harper’s.
We
can
go
to
Widow
Douglas’
house.
She
has
ice
cream!
She
has
lots
of
it
every
day.
She
will
be
happy
to
see
us.”
“Oh,
that
sounds
fun!”
