Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 29, Página 5
“By
God,
that’s—”
“Keep
your
opinion
to
yourself!
It’s
safer
for
you.
I’ll
tie
her
to
the
bed.
If
she
bleeds
to
death,
is
that
my
fault?
I
won’t
cry
if
she
does.
Friend,
you’ll
help
me
with
this—for
my
sake—that’s
why
you’re
here—I
might
need
help.
If
you
hesitate,
I’ll
kill
you.
Understand?
And
if
I
kill
you,
I’ll
kill
her
too—and
then
nobody
will
know
who
did
it.”
“Well,
if
it
must
be
done,
let’s
do
it.
The
sooner,
the
better—I’m
shaking.”
“Do
it
now?
And
company
there?
Look
here—I’ll
start
suspecting
you
soon.
No—we’ll
wait
till
the
lights
go
out—there’s
no
rush.”
Huck
felt
silence
was
coming—a
silence
worse
than
their
talk.
He
held
his
breath
and
stepped
back
carefully.
He
balanced
on
one
leg,
almost
falling,
then
planted
his
foot
firmly.
He
took
another
step
back,
just
as
carefully,
and
then
another.
A
twig
snapped
under
his
foot!
He
stopped
breathing
and
listened.
No
sound—the
silence
was
perfect.
He
felt
very
grateful.
Now
he
turned
around
between
the
bushes,
like
a
ship,
and
walked
quickly
but
carefully.
When
he
reached
the
quarry,
he
felt
safe.
He
ran
fast.
Down,
down
he
went,
till
he
reached
the
Welshman’s
house.
He
banged
on
the
door,
and
soon
the
old
man
and
his
two
strong
sons
looked
out
the
windows.
“What’s
going
on?
Who’s
knocking?
What
do
you
want?”
“Let
me
in—quick!
I’ll
tell
everything.”
“Who
are
you?”
