Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 3, Página 1
Tom
stood
in
front
of
Aunt
Polly.
She
sat
by
a
window
in
a
nice
room.
It
was
a
bedroom,
breakfast
room,
dining
room,
and
library
all
in
one.
The
summer
air
was
warm,
and
the
room
was
quiet.
Flowers
smelled
sweet,
and
bees
buzzed
softly.
Aunt
Polly
was
sleepy
and
nodded
over
her
knitting.
She
had
no
company
except
the
cat,
which
slept
on
her
lap.
Her
glasses
sat
on
her
gray
hair.
She
thought
Tom
had
run
off
long
ago.
She
was
surprised
to
see
him
come
back
like
this.
He
asked,
"Can
I
go
play
now,
aunt?"
"What,
already?
How
much
work
have
you
done?"
"It's
all
done,
aunt."
"Tom,
don't
lie
to
me—I
can't
stand
it."
"I'm
not
lying,
aunt;
it's
all
done."
Aunt
Polly
did
not
trust
him.
She
went
out
to
check.
She
thought
maybe
some
of
Tom's
words
were
true.
But
when
she
saw
the
fence,
she
was
shocked.
It
was
all
whitewashed,
and
very
well
done.
She
said:
"Well,
I
never!
You
can
work
when
you
want
to,
Tom."
But
then
she
added,
"But
you
don't
want
to
often.
Go
play,
but
come
back
soon,
or
I'll
punish
you."
She
was
so
impressed
that
she
gave
him
an
apple.
She
also
gave
him
a
talk
about
how
good
it
is
to
work
hard.
While
she
talked,
Tom
took
a
doughnut
without
her
seeing.
