Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 31, Página 4
After
a
while,
Tom
took
Becky’s
candle
and
blew
it
out.
This
saving
meant
a
lot!
No
words
were
needed.
Becky
understood,
and
her
hope
faded
again.
She
knew
Tom
had
a
full
candle
and
some
pieces,
yet
he
needed
to
save
them.
Soon,
they
felt
tired.
They
tried
to
stay
alert,
because
sitting
down
felt
wrong
when
time
was
so
important.
Moving
in
any
direction
was
at
least
doing
something;
sitting
felt
like
giving
up.
Becky
was
too
tired
to
walk
more.
She
sat
down,
and
Tom
sat
with
her.
They
talked
about
home,
their
friends,
and
their
beds.
They
missed
the
light.
Becky
cried,
and
Tom
tried
to
comfort
her,
but
his
words
didn't
help.
Becky
was
so
tired
that
she
fell
asleep.
Tom
was
glad.
He
watched
her
face
become
peaceful
as
she
dreamed.
She
even
smiled.
This
made
Tom
feel
a
little
better,
and
he
thought
about
old
times.
While
he
was
lost
in
thought,
Becky
woke
up
and
laughed.
But
then
she
stopped
and
groaned.
"Oh,
why
did
I
sleep?
I
wish
I
hadn't
woken
up!
No,
Tom,
I
don't
mean
it.
Don't
look
sad.
I
won't
say
it
again."
"I'm
glad
you
slept,
Becky.
You
will
feel
better
now,
and
we
will
find
the
way
out."
"We
can
try,
Tom.
But
I
saw
a
beautiful
place
in
my
dream.
Maybe
we
are
going
there."
"Maybe
not.
Cheer
up,
Becky.
Let's
keep
trying."
They
stood
up
and
walked
again,
holding
hands.
They
felt
hopeless.
They
tried
to
guess
how
long
they
had
been
in
the
cave.
It
felt
like
days
or
weeks,
but
their
candles
were
not
used
up
yet.
After
a
long
time,
Tom
said
they
should
listen
for
water.
They
needed
to
find
a
spring.
They
found
one
soon,
and
Tom
said
they
should
rest
again.
They
were
very
tired,
but
Becky
thought
she
could
walk
more.
Tom
surprised
her
by
saying
no.
They
sat
down,
and
Tom
stuck
his
candle
to
the
wall
with
clay.
They
were
quiet
for
a
while.
Then
Becky
said:
