Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 7, Página 1
Tom
tried
hard
to
read
his
book,
but
his
mind
kept
wandering.
Finally,
he
sighed
and
gave
up.
He
thought
the
lunch
break
would
never
come.
The
air
was
still
and
quiet.
It
was
a
very
sleepy
day.
The
soft
sounds
of
the
students
studying
made
him
feel
calm,
like
the
buzz
of
bees.
Outside,
Cardiff
Hill
stood
in
the
hot
sun,
looking
green
and
far
away.
Some
birds
flew
lazily
in
the
sky,
and
a
few
cows
were
asleep.
Tom
wanted
to
be
free
or
find
something
fun
to
do.
He
put
his
hand
in
his
pocket
and
felt
happy.
He
took
out
a
box
and
carefully
opened
it.
Inside
was
a
little
tick.
He
placed
it
on
the
desk.
The
tick
started
to
move,
but
Tom
used
a
pin
to
change
its
path.
Tom’s
best
friend
sat
next
to
him,
feeling
just
as
bored.
His
friend
was
Joe
Harper.
They
were
close
friends
during
the
week
but
fought
on
Saturdays.
Joe
saw
Tom’s
tick
and
got
interested.
He
took
a
pin
and
helped
Tom
with
the
tick.
The
game
got
more
exciting.
Soon,
Tom
said
they
were
getting
in
each
other’s
way.
So,
he
took
Joe’s
slate
and
drew
a
line
down
the
middle.
“Now,”
Tom
said,
“when
the
tick
is
on
your
side,
you
can
play
with
it.
But
if
it
comes
to
my
side,
you
have
to
leave
it
alone.”
“Okay,
start
it
up,”
Joe
replied.”
The
tick
soon
moved
to
Joe’s
side.
Joe
played
with
it,
then
it
crossed
back
to
Tom’s
side.
This
happened
many
times.
While
one
boy
played
with
the
tick,
the
other
watched
closely.
Their
heads
were
close
together,
focused
only
on
the
tick.
After
a
while,
the
tick
seemed
to
stay
on
Joe’s
side.
The
tick
tried
different
paths
and
got
as
excited
as
the
boys.
But
each
time
Tom
wanted
to
play,
Joe
stopped
the
tick
with
his
pin.
Tom
couldn’t
take
it
anymore.
He
reached
out
with
his
pin.
Joe
got
mad
and
said:
“Tom,
leave
it
alone.”
“I
just
want
to
play
a
little,
Joe.”
“No,
it’s
not
fair;
leave
it
alone.”
