Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 7, Página 9
"Oh,
Tom!
I'm
not
the
first
you've
been
engaged
to!"
The
child
started
to
cry.
Tom
said:
"Oh,
don't
cry,
Becky.
I
don't
care
for
her
anymore."
"Yes,
you
do,
Tom—you
know
you
do."
Tom
tried
to
put
his
arm
around
her
neck,
but
she
pushed
him
away.
She
turned
her
face
to
the
wall
and
kept
crying.
Tom
tried
again,
speaking
softly,
but
she
pushed
him
away
again.
Then
Tom
felt
proud
and
walked
outside.
He
waited,
restless
and
uneasy,
looking
at
the
door,
hoping
she
would
come
to
find
him.
But
she
did
not
come.
Then
he
felt
bad
and
thought
he
was
wrong.
It
was
hard
for
him
to
try
again,
but
he
did
and
went
back
inside.
She
was
still
in
the
corner,
crying,
with
her
face
to
the
wall.
Tom
felt
sorry.
He
stood
by
her
for
a
moment,
not
sure
what
to
do.
Then
he
said
slowly:
"Becky,
I—I
don't
care
for
anyone
but
you."
No
answer—just
more
sobs.
"Becky,"
he
said
softly.
"Becky,
won't
you
say
something?"
