Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 1, Página 4
While
Tom
was
eating
his
supper
and
sneaking
sugar
whenever
he
could,
Aunt
Polly
asked
him
questions
that
were
tricky
and
clever—for
she
wanted
to
catch
him
in
a
lie.
Like
many
other
simple-hearted
people,
it
was
her
little
vanity
to
believe
she
was
good
at
dark
and
mysterious
tricks,
and
she
loved
to
think
of
her
most
obvious
tricks
as
clever
plans.
She
said:
"Tom,
it
was
pretty
warm
in
school,
wasn’t
it?"
"Yes,
ma’am."
"Very
warm,
wasn’t
it?"
"Yes,
ma’am."
"Didn’t
you
want
to
go
swimming,
Tom?"
A
bit
of
fear
went
through
Tom—a
touch
of
uncomfortable
suspicion.
He
looked
at
Aunt
Polly’s
face,
but
it
told
him
nothing.
So
he
said:
"No,
ma’am—well,
not
very
much."
