Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 1, Página 5
The
old
lady
reached
out
her
hand
and
felt
Tom’s
shirt,
and
said:
"But
you’re
not
too
warm
now."
And
it
pleased
her
to
think
she
had
figured
out
that
the
shirt
was
dry
without
anyone
knowing
that
was
what
she
had
in
mind.
But
despite
her,
Tom
knew
what
she
was
getting
at
now.
So
he
got
ahead
of
what
might
be
the
next
question:
"Some
of
us
pumped
water
on
our
heads—mine’s
still
damp.
See?"
Aunt
Polly
was
annoyed
to
think
she
had
missed
that
bit
of
evidence
and
missed
a
chance.
Then
she
had
a
new
idea:
"Tom,
you
didn’t
have
to
undo
your
shirt
collar
where
I
sewed
it
to
pump
water
on
your
head,
did
you?
Unbutton
your
jacket!"
The
trouble
disappeared
from
Tom’s
face.
He
opened
his
jacket.
His
shirt
collar
was
still
sewn.
"Bother!
Well,
go
on
with
you.
I
was
sure
you’d
skipped
school
and
gone
swimming.
But
I
forgive
you,
Tom.
I
guess
you’re
better
than
you
look.
This
time."
She
was
half
sorry
her
cleverness
had
failed,
and
half
glad
that
Tom
had
behaved
well
for
once.
