Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 13, Página 2
“Tom
Sawyer,
the
Black
Avenger
of
the
Spanish
Main.
Name
your
names.”
“Huck
Finn
the
Red-Handed,
and
Joe
Harper
the
Terror
of
the
Seas.”
Tom
had
given
them
these
titles
from
his
favorite
books.
“’Tis
well.
Give
the
countersign.”
Two
rough
whispers
spoke
the
same
terrible
word
into
the
quiet
night:
“Blood!”
Then
Tom
threw
his
ham
over
the
hill
and
climbed
down
after
it.
He
tore
his
skin
and
clothes
a
bit
in
the
process.
There
was
an
easy
path
along
the
shore
under
the
hill,
but
it
didn’t
have
the
difficulty
and
danger
a
pirate
would
like.
The
Terror
of
the
Seas
had
brought
a
side
of
bacon
and
was
almost
exhausted
from
carrying
it.
Finn
the
Red-Handed
had
taken
a
skillet
and
some
half-cured
leaf
tobacco.
He
also
brought
a
few
corn-cobs
to
make
pipes.
But
none
of
the
pirates
smoked
or
"chewed"
except
him.
The
Black
Avenger
of
the
Spanish
Main
said
they
needed
fire
to
start.
That
was
a
smart
thought
because
matches
were
not
common
then.
They
saw
a
fire
smoldering
on
a
big
raft
a
hundred
yards
away.
They
quietly
went
there
and
took
a
piece
of
it.
They
made
it
an
exciting
adventure,
saying
“Hist!”
now
and
then,
and
stopping
suddenly
with
a
finger
on
their
lips.
They
moved
with
hands
on
imaginary
dagger
handles
and
gave
whispered
orders
that
if
"the
enemy"
moved,
to
"let
him
have
it
to
the
hilt,"
because
"dead
men
tell
no
tales."
They
knew
the
raftsmen
were
all
in
the
village
having
fun
or
getting
supplies,
but
that
was
no
reason
to
act
less
like
pirates.
They
pushed
off
soon,
with
Tom
in
command,
Huck
at
the
back
oar,
and
Joe
at
the
front.
Tom
stood
in
the
middle,
looking
serious,
with
folded
arms.
He
gave
his
orders
in
a
low,
firm
whisper:
