Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 29, Página 5
“By
God,
that’s—”
“Keep
your
opinion
to
yourself!
It’s
safer
for
you.
I’ll
tie
her
to
the
bed.
If
she
bleeds
to
death,
is
that
my
fault?
I
won’t
cry
if
she
does.
You’ll
help
me
in
this—for
my
sake—that’s
why
you’re
here—I
might
not
manage
alone.
If
you
hesitate,
I’ll
kill
you.
Understand
that?
And
if
I
have
to
kill
you,
I’ll
kill
her
too—and
then
nobody
will
know
who
did
it.”
“Well,
if
it
has
to
be
done,
let’s
do
it.
The
sooner
the
better—I’m
shaking
all
over.”
“Do
it
now?
And
company
there?
Listen—I’ll
start
suspecting
you
soon.
No—we’ll
wait
until
the
lights
are
out—there’s
no
rush.”
Huck
felt
a
silence
was
coming—a
silence
scarier
than
all
the
murderous
talk;
so
he
held
his
breath
and
carefully
stepped
back;
placing
his
foot
firmly
after
balancing
on
one
leg,
almost
falling
over,
first
one
way,
then
the
other.
He
took
another
step
back,
just
as
carefully;
then
another
and
another,
and—a
twig
snapped
under
his
foot!
He
held
his
breath
and
listened.
No
sound—the
silence
was
perfect.
His
relief
was
immense.
Now
he
turned
around,
between
the
sumach
bushes—turned
as
carefully
as
if
he
were
a
ship—and
then
moved
quickly
but
cautiously.
When
he
reached
the
quarry,
he
felt
safe
and
ran.
Down,
down
he
went,
until
he
reached
the
Welshman’s.
He
banged
on
the
door,
and
soon
the
old
man
and
his
two
strong
sons
appeared
at
the
windows.
“What’s
going
on?
Who’s
knocking?
What
do
you
want?”
“Let
me
in—quick!
I’ll
explain
everything.”
“Who
are
you?”
