Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 30, Página 3
“Oh
no,
no!
Please
don’t
tell!”
When
the
young
men
were
gone,
the
old
Welshman
said:
“They
won’t
tell—and
I
won’t.
But
why
don’t
you
want
it
known?”
Huck
wouldn’t
explain,
except
to
say
that
he
already
knew
too
much
about
one
of
those
men
and
didn’t
want
the
man
to
know
that
he
knew
anything
against
him—he
would
be
killed
for
knowing
it,
for
sure.
The
old
man
promised
to
keep
it
secret
again,
and
said:
“How
did
you
come
to
follow
these
fellows,
lad?
Did
they
look
suspicious?”
Huck
was
silent
while
he
thought
of
a
careful
reply.
Then
he
said:
“Well,
you
see,
I’m
a
kind
of
a
bad
lot,—at
least
everybody
says
so,
and
I
don’t
see
anything
against
it—and
sometimes
I
can’t
sleep
much,
because
I’m
thinking
about
it
and
trying
to
find
a
new
way
to
live.
That’s
what
happened
last
night.
I
couldn’t
sleep,
so
I
walked
up
the
street
around
midnight,
thinking
it
over,
and
when
I
got
to
that
old
brick
store
by
the
Temperance
Tavern,
I
leaned
against
the
wall
to
think
more.
Well,
just
then,
these
two
guys
came
by
me,
carrying
something
under
their
arm,
and
I
thought
they’d
stolen
it.
One
was
smoking,
and
the
other
wanted
a
light;
so
they
stopped
right
in
front
of
me,
and
the
cigars
lit
up
their
faces.
I
saw
that
the
big
one
was
the
deaf
and
dumb
Spaniard,
by
his
white
whiskers
and
the
patch
on
his
eye,
and
the
other
one
was
a
rusty,
ragged-looking
devil.”
