Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 30, Página 2
“Well,
poor
boy,
you
look
like
you
had
a
tough
night—but
there’s
a
bed
here
for
you
after
breakfast.
No,
they’re
not
dead,
lad—we’re
sorry
about
that.
We
knew
where
to
find
them
from
your
description,
so
we
crept
quietly
until
we
were
fifteen
feet
away—dark
as
a
cellar
that
path
was—and
just
then
I
felt
a
sneeze
coming.
It
was
bad
luck!
I
tried
to
stop
it,
but
I
couldn’t—it
came!
I
was
in
front
with
my
pistol
ready,
and
when
I
sneezed,
those
scoundrels
started
to
move.
I
shouted,
‘Fire
boys!’
and
we
shot
at
where
the
noise
was.
So
did
the
boys.
But
those
villains
got
away
quickly,
and
we
chased
them
through
the
woods.
I
think
we
never
hit
them.
They
fired
a
shot
each
when
they
ran,
but
their
bullets
missed
us.
When
we
couldn’t
hear
their
footsteps
anymore,
we
stopped
chasing
and
went
to
wake
up
the
constables.
They
got
a
group
together
to
guard
the
riverbank,
and
when
it’s
light,
the
sheriff
and
a
team
will
search
the
woods.
My
boys
will
join
them
soon.
I
wish
we
had
some
description
of
those
rascals—it
would
help
a
lot.
But
you
couldn’t
see
what
they
looked
like
in
the
dark,
could
you,
lad?”
“Oh
yes;
I
saw
them
downtown
and
followed
them.”
“Great!
Describe
them—describe
them,
my
boy!”
“One’s
the
old
deaf
and
dumb
Spaniard
who’s
been
around
here
once
or
twice,
and
the
other’s
a
mean-looking,
ragged—”
“That’s
enough,
lad,
we
know
the
men!
We
saw
them
in
the
woods
behind
the
widow’s
house
one
day,
and
they
sneaked
away.
Off
with
you,
boys,
and
tell
the
sheriff—get
your
breakfast
tomorrow
morning!”
The
Welshman’s
sons
left
immediately.
As
they
were
leaving
the
room,
Huck
jumped
up
and
exclaimed:
“Oh,
please
don’t
tell
anybody
it
was
me
who
told
on
them!
Oh,
please!”
“All
right
if
you
say
so,
Huck,
but
you
should
get
credit
for
what
you
did.”
