Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 31, Página 1
Now
let's
return
to
Tom
and
Becky's
part
in
the
picnic.
They
walked
through
the
dark
paths
with
the
others,
visiting
the
known
wonders
of
the
cave.
These
wonders
had
fancy
names
like
"The
Drawing-Room,"
"The
Cathedral,"
and
"Aladdin’s
Palace."
Soon,
they
started
playing
hide-and-seek
with
excitement
until
they
got
a
bit
tired.
Then,
they
wandered
down
a
winding
path,
holding
their
candles
high,
reading
the
names
and
dates
written
on
the
cave
walls.
As
they
kept
moving
and
talking,
they
didn't
notice
they
were
in
a
part
of
the
cave
without
any
writing
on
the
walls.
They
wrote
their
names
in
candle
smoke
under
a
rock
shelf
and
moved
on.
They
found
a
spot
where
a
small
stream
had
created
a
stone
waterfall
over
time.
Tom
squeezed
behind
it
to
show
it
to
Becky.
He
discovered
it
hid
a
steep
natural
staircase
between
narrow
walls,
and
he
wanted
to
explore
it.
Becky
came
when
Tom
called
her,
and
they
marked
the
spot
with
smoke
to
find
their
way
back
later.
They
went
deeper
into
the
cave,
leaving
marks
as
they
searched
for
new
things
to
see.
They
found
a
large
cavern
with
many
shining
stalactites
hanging
from
the
ceiling.
They
walked
around,
admiring
it,
and
then
left
through
one
of
the
many
passages.
Soon,
they
found
a
beautiful
spring
surrounded
by
crystal
frost.
It
was
in
a
cavern
with
walls
supported
by
strange
pillars
formed
by
stalactites
and
stalagmites
joining
together.
Above
them,
many
bats
hung
in
clusters.
The
light
disturbed
the
bats,
and
they
flew
down,
squeaking
and
rushing
at
the
candles.
Tom
knew
the
danger
and
grabbed
Becky's
hand,
pulling
her
into
a
nearby
corridor
just
in
time.
A
bat
hit
Becky's
candle
with
its
wing
as
they
left
the
cavern.
The
bats
chased
them
for
a
while,
but
they
kept
running
through
new
passages
until
they
lost
them.
Finally,
they
found
a
hidden
lake
stretching
into
the
shadows.
Tom
wanted
to
explore
it
but
decided
they
should
rest
first.
The
silence
of
the
place
started
to
scare
the
children.
Becky
said:
"I
didn't
notice,
but
it
feels
like
a
long
time
since
we
heard
anyone
else."
"Now
that
you
mention
it,
Becky,
we're
far
below
them.
I
don't
know
how
far
north,
south,
east,
or
whatever.
We
can't
hear
them
here."
Becky
started
to
feel
worried.
"I
wonder
how
long
we've
been
down
here,
Tom?
We
should
start
back."
"Yes,
I
guess
we
should.
Maybe
we
should."
"Can
you
find
the
way,
Tom?
Everything
looks
mixed
up
to
me."
