Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 6, Página 17
After
a
while,
everyone
stopped
paying
attention
to
Tom,
and
the
usual
classroom
noise
filled
the
air
again.
Tom
started
sneaking
looks
at
the
girl.
She
noticed
and
made
a
face
at
him,
then
turned
away.
When
she
looked
back,
there
was
a
peach
in
front
of
her.
She
pushed
it
away,
but
Tom
gently
put
it
back.
She
pushed
it
away
again,
but
not
as
strongly.
Tom
patiently
returned
it
once
more.
This
time,
she
left
it
there.
Tom
wrote
on
his
slate,
"Please
take
it—I
have
more."
The
girl
glanced
at
the
words
but
didn't
react.
Tom
then
began
to
draw
something
on
his
slate,
hiding
it
with
his
hand.
At
first,
the
girl
ignored
him,
but
soon
her
curiosity
got
the
better
of
her.
The
boy
continued
drawing,
pretending
not
to
notice
her
interest.
Eventually,
she
couldn't
resist
and
whispered:
"Let
me
see
it."
Tom
partly
uncovered
a
rough
drawing
of
a
house
with
two
pointed
ends
and
spirals
of
smoke
coming
from
the
chimney.
The
girl's
interest
grew,
and
she
forgot
everything
else.
When
he
finished,
she
looked
at
it
for
a
moment
and
whispered:
"It's
nice—draw
a
man."
Tom
drew
a
man
in
the
front
yard
that
looked
like
a
crane.
He
was
much
taller
than
the
house,
but
the
girl
didn't
mind.
She
was
happy
with
it
and
whispered:
"It's
a
beautiful
man—now
draw
me
walking
by."
Tom
drew
an
hourglass
figure
with
a
round
head
and
stick
arms,
giving
it
a
big
fan.
The
girl
said:
"It's
really
nice—I
wish
I
could
draw."
