Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 6, Página 6
But
all
troubles
have
their
rewards.
As
Tom
walked
to
school
after
breakfast,
every
boy
envied
him
because
the
gap
in
his
teeth
let
him
spit
in
a
new
and
impressive
way.
He
gathered
a
group
of
boys
interested
in
his
trick,
and
one
boy
who
had
cut
his
finger
and
was
popular
until
now
suddenly
had
no
followers
and
lost
his
fame.
He
felt
sad
and
said,
pretending
not
to
care,
that
spitting
like
Tom
Sawyer
was
nothing
special;
but
another
boy
called
him
a
sore
loser,
and
he
walked
away
feeling
like
a
forgotten
hero.
Soon
Tom
saw
the
village
outcast,
Huckleberry
Finn,
the
son
of
the
town
drunk.
Huckleberry
was
disliked
and
feared
by
all
the
town’s
mothers
because
he
was
lazy,
wild,
and
bad—and
because
their
children
admired
him
and
wanted
to
be
like
him.
Tom,
like
other
respectable
boys,
envied
Huck’s
wild
life
and
was
told
not
to
play
with
him.
So
he
played
with
Huck
whenever
he
could.
Huck
always
wore
old
clothes
from
grown
men,
which
were
always
torn
and
ragged.
His
hat
was
a
mess
with
a
big
hole
in
the
brim;
his
coat,
if
he
wore
one,
hung
almost
to
his
heels,
and
the
buttons
were
far
down
his
back;
one
suspender
held
up
his
trousers;
the
seat
of
the
trousers
sagged
low
and
was
empty,
and
the
legs
dragged
in
the
dirt
unless
rolled
up.
Huck
came
and
went
as
he
pleased.
He
slept
on
doorsteps
in
good
weather
and
in
empty
barrels
when
it
rained;
he
didn’t
have
to
go
to
school
or
church
or
obey
anyone;
he
could
fish
or
swim
whenever
and
wherever
he
wanted
and
stay
as
long
as
he
liked;
nobody
stopped
him
from
fighting;
he
could
stay
up
as
late
as
he
wanted;
he
was
always
the
first
boy
to
go
barefoot
in
spring
and
the
last
to
wear
shoes
in
fall;
he
never
had
to
wash
or
wear
clean
clothes;
he
could
swear
impressively.
In
short,
everything
that
made
life
wonderful,
that
boy
had.
So
thought
every
stressed
and
restricted
boy
in
St.
Petersburg.
Tom
greeted
the
adventurous
outcast:
“Hello,
Huckleberry!”
“Hello
to
you,
too,
and
see
how
you
like
it.”
“What’s
that
you’ve
got?”
“Dead
cat.”
