Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 1, Página 13
“I
dare
you
to
step
over
that,
and
I’ll
beat
you
till
you
can’t
stand.
Anyone
who
takes
a
dare
will
steal
sheep.”
The
new
boy
promptly
stepped
over
and
said:
“You
said
you’d
do
it,
now
let’s
see
you
do
it.”
“Don’t
crowd
me
now;
you
better
watch
out.”
“Well,
you
said
you’d
do
it—why
don’t
you?”
“By
jingo!
for
two
cents
I
will.”
The
new
boy
took
two
large
coins
out
of
his
pocket
and
held
them
out
mockingly.
Tom
knocked
them
to
the
ground.
In
an
instant,
both
boys
were
rolling
and
tumbling
in
the
dirt,
grappling
like
cats;
for
a
minute
they
tugged
and
tore
at
each
other’s
hair
and
clothes,
punched
and
scratched
each
other’s
noses,
covering
themselves
with
dust
and
glory.
Gradually,
the
chaos
took
shape,
and
through
the
battle
haze,
Tom
emerged,
sitting
astride
the
new
boy
and
pounding
him
with
his
fists.
“Say
‘enough!’”
he
demanded.
The
boy
only
struggled
to
free
himself.
He
was
crying—mostly
from
anger.
