Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 1, Página 14
“Say
‘enough!’”—and
the
pounding
continued.
At
last,
the
stranger
managed
a
muffled
“Enough!”
and
Tom
let
him
up
and
said:
“Now
you’ve
learned.
Better
watch
who
you’re
messing
with
next
time.”
The
new
boy
walked
off,
brushing
the
dust
from
his
clothes,
sobbing,
sniffling,
and
occasionally
looking
back,
shaking
his
head,
and
threatening
what
he’d
do
to
Tom
“next
time
he
caught
him
out.”
To
this,
Tom
responded
with
taunts
and
walked
off
proudly.
As
soon
as
his
back
was
turned,
the
new
boy
picked
up
a
stone,
threw
it,
and
hit
him
between
the
shoulders,
then
ran
like
an
antelope.
Tom
chased
him
home
and
discovered
where
he
lived.
He
then
stood
at
the
gate
for
a
while,
daring
him
to
come
out,
but
the
boy
only
made
faces
at
him
through
the
window
and
refused.
Finally,
the
boy’s
mother
appeared,
called
Tom
a
bad,
vicious
child,
and
ordered
him
away.
So
he
left;
but
he
said
he
planned
to
“get”
that
boy
later.
He
got
home
quite
late
that
night,
and
when
he
climbed
cautiously
through
the
window,
he
uncovered
an
ambush—his
aunt.
When
she
saw
the
state
of
his
clothes,
her
decision
to
turn
his
Saturday
holiday
into
hard
labor
became
unbreakable.
