Las aventuras de Tom Sawyer
Capítulo 1, Página 4
While
Tom
was
eating
supper
and
sneaking
sugar
whenever
he
could,
Aunt
Polly
asked
him
questions
full
of
cunning,
trying
to
trap
him
into
revealing
something.
Like
many
simple-hearted
people,
she
prided
herself
on
her
supposed
talent
for
secretive
and
mysterious
diplomacy,
and
she
loved
to
admire
her
most
obvious
tricks
as
marvels
of
cleverness.
She
said:
“Tom,
it
was
pretty
warm
in
school,
wasn’t
it?”
“Yes,
ma’am.”
“Very
warm,
wasn’t
it?”
“Yes,
ma’am.”
“Didn’t
you
want
to
go
swimming,
Tom?”
A
bit
of
fear
shot
through
Tom—a
slight
feeling
of
suspicion.
He
looked
at
Aunt
Polly’s
face,
but
it
revealed
nothing.
So
he
said:
“No,
ma’am—well,
not
very
much.”
